Innaugural podcast posted. Yes, the iDea was prompted by an Apple product, but this has been in the works (I was learning the technology involved) since before the passing of Steve Jobs. It's not about that. It's about the tech, and the future. Really.

Mike Kapper is Assistant Professor and
Lead Instructor (Department Chair) in Developmental Education at a Community College in Ohio. He also enjoys writing, print and Web design, reading, cooking, baking, and gaming. These pursuits that don't pay the bills (at least not yet) are detailed in this site. Feel free to contact Mike with questions in these or related areas.
The battle.net icon above links to the armory page of one of my toons. If you want to RealID friend me, please do so in-game.
Yes, it feels obligatory, and a bit clichéd, but what the heck?
Stuff on the Web that I like, in no particular order (and, yes, they're all pretty darn geeky):
And, if you're really interested in my WoW toons, here are the armory links for the three I'm actively playing right now:
Release Notes (7/8/11):
We'll call this a beta release of the new site. I haven't redone the contact page yet, but I've left the old one active. Each of the sections to the left will eventually link to a page of its own when there's more there there (i.e., more content). But for now, at least there's a somewhat up-to-date site (ok, page) here and not just a placeholder. Let's see how long this lasts!
Oh, yeah — and the blog is pretty well gone!
Kyle Minor sent out a call for cover art for his story, "The Truth and All Its Ugly," which he has released as an Amazon.com Kindle Single. I created this, which Kyle decided to use. The Kindle Single is available here.

While there remains precious little to report on this front, at present, I am happy to report that my evil plan for making some progress in this area seems to be coming together nicely. In the upcoming spring semester, my teaching load will be concentrated in the first eight weeks (January through Spring Break) of the term, and I will have the second eight weeks to work on various writing/research projects. I've got a number of ideas marinating at this point, and I'll probably start discussing them here as that time — the middle of March seems a long way off — gets closer.
I created this short documentary video, “In Development,” with students and instructors from my college's Developmental and Assistive Technologies for Everyone Learning Community in the Spring 2011 semester. The video was shown at an openhouse we hosted for the funding agencies, our grant partners and their clients, and the community.
This is a screen capture video from World of Warcraft, demonstrating how to get into and out of Stormwind City (as a Horde player) during the Summer Fire Festival.
At the moment, I'm playing these video/computer games:
L.A. Noire
Playing on PS3
Ok, I'm really loving this game, but the time I've spent playing it doesn't really reflect that. I keep telling myself that I'm going to get back to it, play more, get some use out of the PS3 (other than Netflix). Maybe I will soon.
World of Warcraft
Playing on Mac
As you might have guessed from the video featured at the top of the page, I'm playing WoW. Lots and lots of WoW. I'm currently exploring the new (patch 4.2) content on one toon and leveling two others (I've discovered that I like healing and that I'm reasonably good at it). There will likely be more related videos soon.
I'm also running a tabletop campaign. Well, “am” may be too strong a word, because it's more like “was” since it's been on hiatus for far too long now — several months! Here's hoping we can get that going again, soon.
